An historic day at Cartref Ael-Y-Bryn!
Today marked an historic day at Cartref Ael-Y-Bryn as the home saw its first resident go online and into the internet age.
Edward ‘Ted’ Puddephatt was the pioneer in making cyber contact with his family, who endeavour to maintain regular face-to-face contact with Ted, despite living a long distance away from the home.
Ted enjoyed opening his birthday presents and cards in the presence of his family and pet dog. He even blew out a ‘virtual’ candle during the video link!
Managing Director, Thasan Yoganathan was on hand to help Ted out with getting connected. He commented:
“Families and friends living overseas and a long distance from the home can sometimes feel like communication is a difficult hurdle to overcome. It’s wonderful that enabling residents to get connected means that we have another method of keeping them in contact with their loved ones. It’s one small step for man, but one giant leap for our residents who are of a generation unfamiliar with the internet”.
